Pentecost, named after the Jewish festival when the disciples of Jesus first proclaimed the Gospel after the gift of the Holy Spirit, is seen as the ‘birthday’ of the Church. Its alternative name comes from the custom of baptizing converts dressed in white.
Advent (28 November - 24 December 2023)
Advent is the four-week period before Christmas. There are four Sundays in Advent. The word "Advent" means "coming" or "arrival" and in this case points towards the birth of Jesus celebrated at Christmas. One special service involving children is called Christingle and can be held during Advent, Christmas, or Epiphany.
Christmas (25 December 2023 - 5 January 2023)
The season of Christmas begins on the 25 December and traditionally lasts twelve days, ending on 5 January. Christmas is the time when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Welsh Heritage Fund
This year Shiloh Cardiff have applied for funding from the Welsh Heritage fund. If successful we plan to develop our community's knowledge of our welsh heritage, through trips to heritage sites like St David's Catherderal and workshops. By doing so we hope to develop a greater sense of welsh identity within Riverside.
